About Puneri Paltan
Puneri Paltan are based in Pune and play in orange and black. The club’s modern story is a three-final run across four seasons. In Season 9, Pune reached the final and lost 33–29 to Jaipur Pink Panthers. One season later, in Season 10, Pune reached the final again and won it, beating Haryana Steelers 28–25 for the club’s first Pro Kabaddi League title.
Season 12 then produced the strongest league stage in the club’s record on this page. Puneri Paltan won 13 of 18 matches, lost 5, and finished 1st with 26 points and a score difference of +88. Level on points with Dabang Delhi K.C., Pune took top place with the far stronger score difference, +88 against Delhi’s +38. The final, played on 31 October 2025 at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium in Delhi, went to Dabang Delhi K.C., 31–28.
That final also had a prelude. In Qualifier 1, Puneri Paltan and Dabang Delhi K.C. drew 34–34, and Delhi won the five-raid shootout 6–4. Pune still reached the final through the bracket, and lost it by the same three-point feel. Two finals lost by three and four points, around one title won by three points: Pune’s recent seasons have been decided by single raids.
Puneri Paltan Honours
Puneri Paltan have played three Pro Kabaddi League finals and won one. The honours table lists each final with the score and the opponent. The full champions record for every season is on the PKL Winners List.
| Season | Result | Final score | Opponent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Season 9 (2022) | Runner-up | Lost 29–33 | Jaipur Pink Panthers |
| Season 10 (2023–24) | Champion | Won 28–25 | Haryana Steelers |
| Season 12 (2025) | Runner-up | Lost 28–31 | Dabang Delhi K.C. |
One title from three finals, with both defeats by four points or fewer, is the record of a club that keeps arriving at the last match and keeps being one play short. Season 13 is the next attempt to change that balance.
Puneri Paltan Season 12 Review
Puneri Paltan finished the Season 12 league stage in 1st place. The club won 13 matches and lost 5, scoring 26 points under the official Win = 2, Loss = 0 system, with a score difference of +88. Level on 26 points with Dabang Delhi K.C., Pune took top place in the final table. Season 12 ran from 29 August to 31 October 2025, with 108 league matches, 9 postseason matches, and legs in Vizag, Jaipur, Chennai, and Delhi.
The postseason is where the season turned. Qualifier 1 against Delhi ended 34–34 and went to a five-raid shootout, which Delhi won 6–4. Pune still reached the final, and there Delhi won again, 31–28, at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium on 31 October 2025. A first-place league finish and a lost final is a strong season by any normal measure. For a club that has now lost two of its three finals, it reads as unfinished work.
