About Tamil Thalaivas
Tamil Thalaivas carry the hopes of Chennai, a city that turns out in force for kabaddi. The support has never been the problem. Results have. Tamil Thalaivas hold an unwanted record in this league: the Chennai side has never reached a Pro Kabaddi League final. Twelve seasons of PKL history have produced eight different champions, and Tamil Thalaivas are still waiting for a first title shot.
That gap shapes everything about this club. Other teams measure a season by whether they lifted the trophy. Tamil Thalaivas first have to break a ceiling: reach the last night of the season, then talk about winning it. The full list of clubs that have done what Chennai still chases sits on the PKL winners list, and Tamil Thalaivas are the name missing from it that their fans notice most.
Season 12 did not move the story forward. Tamil Thalaivas finished 10th, outside the playoff places, with six wins from 18 matches. A support base this loyal deserves a season that runs into late October. Season 13 is the next chance, and the Chennai crowd will judge it by one standard: a playoff place first, then a first final.
Tamil Thalaivas Honours
Tamil Thalaivas have no PKL titles and no final appearances. This section stays honest about that record. The table below lists the verified finals record — which is empty — and the club’s Season 12 finish, the most recent verified benchmark for where this team stands.
| Season | Result | Final score | Opponent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seasons to date | No final appearance | — | — |
| Season 12 (2025) | 10th place, league stage | No final played | — |
An empty honours table is not a reason to skip this team. It is the reason their story matters. When Tamil Thalaivas finally reach a final, it will close one of the longest waits in the league. Until then, every season preview for Chennai starts from zero trophies and one clear target.
Tamil Thalaivas Season 12 Review
Tamil Thalaivas finished Season 12 in 10th place. The Chennai side played 18 league matches, won 6, lost 12, and closed with a score difference of −36 and 12 points under the official system of Win = 2 points, Loss = 0 points. Only the top eight qualified for the playoffs, so the season ended at the league stage.
The opening night summed up the campaign’s fine margins. Tamil Thalaivas played the first match of Season 12, against Telugu Titans in Vizag on 29 August 2025, in front of the first crowd of the season. A strong start was there to be taken. Across 63 days and four cities, the wins never came in a long enough run to pull the team into the top eight.
The numbers show the gap clearly. A score difference of −36 means Tamil Thalaivas lost the close battles too often, and six wins is four short of what the playoff places demanded. Season 12 gives Season 13 a simple measuring stick: turn narrow defeats into wins, and the playoff conversation changes completely for Chennai.
